One of the most anticipated issues from the Perth Mint has been released this month; the 2011 Australia Gold Proof Sovereign. It can now been revealed that the new coin features the same reverse design as its predecessors of the Commonwealth Coat of Arms, the official heraldry of Australia, and is once again struck in 22 Carat Gold to a Proof finish.
With an edition limit of just 2,500, the coin is sure to attract strong numismatic interest the world over, judging by the demand seen for prior releases – particularly the 2009 edition, which completely sold out.
Even more significantly, this mintage is also much lower than its UK counterpart – with just a third of the edition limit.
Moreover, as a Sovereign release, the 2011 Australia Sovereign is also likely to invite attention from collectors dedicated to such historic issues – suggesting that those keen to own the coin would be wise to buy sooner rather than later.
