Royal Couple still draw strong numismatic interest

Almost two months after their much-anticipated wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are still a significant source of public interest.  This has been aptly reflected within the numismatic world, with intense demand for Royal Wedding pieces from major mints in both the UK and Commonwealth.

Indeed, the $20 Fine Silver Coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint has recently sold out of its mintage of 25,000 – suggesting that the Royal Couple will continue to spark interest amongst collectors long after their wedding.

A piece likely to inspire further interest in the Royal Wedding is the $200 Gold coin announced by the Royal Canadian Mint.  The release coincides with the Royal Couple’s first official overseas visit to Canada.

Struck in 22 Carat Gold to a Proof finish, the coin will also feature the rare addition of an embedded Swavrovski style crystal and has an edition limit of just 2,000.

With undoubted potential for strong interest in the coin throughout the world, the Royal Canadian Mint may have another sell out issue on their hands.
