The Royal Mint today has launched the 2013 United Kingdom Sovereign. And purists within the numismatic community will be pleased to see the return of Benedetto Pistrucci’s historic St George & the Dragon design, which has been so synonymous with the coin for the last 200 years.
Struck in 22 Carat Gold, the release of the sovereign coinage in 2013 also coincides with the 60th Anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and follows on from the record sell-out for the individual Proof Sovereign coin in 2012.
Sovereign denominations from the £5 to the Quarter Sovereign will also be struck in 2013, available within a number of official presentation collections and in some cases individually. The smallest mintage of any of these official Royal Mint releases will be a 4-Coin Collection featuring the Double Sovereign to the Quarter Sovereign – with just 295 Sets to be issued.
This, as well as the remainder of the Sovereign range, is expected to be more in-demand than ever from collectors across the world. As a result, our recommendation would be to secure yours today – and you can do so by clicking here.
