The Beatrix Potter coins were issued to commemorate the 150th birthday of the author.

The 5op in question features one of her most famous creations, Peter Rabbit, on the reverse and they are proving so popular with collectors that some have already sold on eBay for more than £20 – 40 times the face value of the coin.

Beatrix Potter’s isn’t the only big birthday this year…

This month, Her Majesty turns 90. She will be the first British monarch to reach this milestone.

It’s an event that collectors are flocking to, with countless coins already released and sold out.

Now, a new British Isles 5 ounce silver coin has just been announced. It comes hot on the heels of a similar 5 ounce silver coin marking the birthday selling out its edition limit of 450 coins.

This coin (available from 22 April) has the same edition limit and we have just 25 for Coin Portfolio Management clients.
